The person holding this position should have had three or more years of successful teaching experience and preferably some experience in school administration.
The Elementary Principal is the administrative officer in the elementary school to which he/she is assigned. As the executive of a building he/she is responsible for every phase of the school’s program – its educational program, professional staff, student body, plant maintenance, and community relations. The Elementary Principal is an instructional leader and is responsible for the introduction and implementation of programs in the building to which he/she is assigned. All resource personnel assigned to the building are responsible to the Principal for all aspects of the resource program. Coordinating is expected between those principals who supervise resource personnel in their building on less than a full-time basis. Required qualifications are that the applicant not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself or others with or without reasonable accommodations, and must be capable of regularly attending to the duties of the position assigned and for the duration of the assignment. This position is subject to a veterans preference.
