This is an I/E technician position in which the incumbent will perform basic and mid-level I/E craft tasks while receiving formal training and mentoring within the I/E organization. The incumbent may coach and/or mentor employees in the entry-level or trainee level of the I/E craft. The incumbent will be familiar with the safety requirements of the I/E crafts to be able to aid or lead in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, adjusting of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and analytical equipment within an industrial/manufacturing plant environment with preference to bio-processing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Solid knowledge of electrical lighting, instrumentation, and electrical maintenance/installation principles both hands-on and theoretical knowledge
I/E technician will be able to work on Instrumentation Calibration and configuration, Pneumatic Control Valves Actuators and Positioners, Performing Loop Checks, Troubleshooting and Commissioning a Loop, Process Control Loops and Tuning. Perform routine calibrations of process control instrumentation
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation to a variety of flow meters, transmitters, controllers and associated equipment. Inspects, tests and recommends changes to ensure required installation meets manufacturer's standards for operation
Observes processes, apply and develop tests and procedures to detect proper or malfunctioning operation of equipment. Determine possible system faults in order to determine test equipment and spare parts that may be required.
Provide accurate, professional, and timely documentation regarding the nature of problems, course of action to be taken and schedule for completion of work
I/E technician will perform Grounding and Bonding applications, heat tracing and freeze protection
I/E technician will understand and apply Motors Theory and its applications
Capable of performing basic to mid-level installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and analytical equipment, including Motor Controls, Distribution Equipment and Transformer Applications.
Solid understanding and knowledge of gaskets, packing, bolts, anchors, hoses, metallurgy, and field mounting techniques associated with electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of equipment including, but is not limited to Pumps and Drives, Valves, Material Handling and Hand Rigging
Demonstrated I/E ability and experience to read, interpret, and implement electrical codes, manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, P&ID's, blueprints, and other specifications.
The employee will aid senior technicians or engineers on Programmable Logic Controllers, Distributed Control Systems, Stand-by and Emergency Systems.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 4-6 years experience in I&E plant industry maintenance or construction related activities.
Good problem solving, communication, organization, and general computer skills.
The following are preferences regarding candidates in consideration of this role:
- Industry related college degree
- Proficiency in SAP or another CMMS
- Working knowledge of technical documentation
- Possess leadership, team building, and negotiating skills
- Possess good understanding of mechanical and instrument process equipment
- Planning and coordinating ability
- Ability to work with computer software applications (Microsoft specifically)
- Cost Awareness
- Possess the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Good knowledge of precision maintenance practices
