Maximizing operating profit and equipment reliability through effective planned/ scheduled maintenance strategies. The maintenance planner/scheduler supports the function of the plant maintenance group by developing job plans and advance work schedules for all craft disciplines. He/she must generate work packages, manage work order backlog, periodically review their effectiveness and efficiency (continuous improvement). Maintenance Planner expected to present at the Weekly Planning and Scheduling meetings and maintain KPI reporting. To accomplish these requirements the incumbent must have at least 7-10 years of experience in Technical maintenance, combined with resourcefulness and an ability to think and act systematically and independently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review plant maintenance requests to formulate labor, material, special tools, job specific safety precautions, and equipment requirements (material monitoring and delivery thereof) and prepared backlog.
- Develop weekly schedule with input from gatekeeper, maintenance supervisor after receiving priorities for the following week.
- Analyze work and material requests for compliance with established Evonik standards and workflow and provides accurate estimates through use of established time standards and job knowledge.
- Develop and/or support job plans by creating SAP task lists for Evonik and internal and external contractors to ensure quality craftsmanship with high regard for employee safety and maintenance cost reduction.
- Create job packages when necessary to include drawings, work order history, PIDs sketches, BOM (Bill of Material) lists, loop sheets, ISOs, safety requirements, and other documentation depending on the size of the job.
- Be the liaison for the Continuous Improvement (CI) process with plant engineers for feedback items that need engineering expertise (e.g. updating BOMs (Bill of Material), drawings, loop sheets, equipment files) Also proposes technical changes or Root Cause Analysis to engineers when necessary.
- Review completed work orders for actual vs. planned requirements and adjust maintenance plans as necessary to improve future planning accuracy.
- Ensure the closing of the job and follow-up, adjust planning (job plan task lists) using technician's feedback for future reference (e.g. steps, materials, time estimates, permits, safety issues)
- Ensure stock request forms filled out, new materials are created, and Bills-of-Materials are updated by working with Production, Engineering, gatekeeper, or plant designee.
- Continued involvement in the Safety Process and maintain a zero lost time injury performance.
- Analyze and plan Maintenance activities to ensure that costly re-work is avoided.
- Participate in the training and development plans of the Department.
- Assist in the development and support of technological advancements and efficiency improvement methods.
- Provide open, honest communication, both up and down the reporting structure.
- Actively participate in the plant Quality process and ensure that craft, labor, equipment and material cost estimates are available for all planned work.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or Industry related degree preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Plant Industry Maintenance or Construction which includes experience in planning/scheduling maintenance or construction activities, reading construction drawings and generating construction sketches and management experience. Preference is to industrial/manufacturing experience.
- Planning/scheduling maintenance or construction activities for a Plant facility.
- Problem solving, communication, organization, and general computer skills are necessary including standard Microsoft Office products.
- Proficiency in SAP and a Maintenance Scheduling Tool is required.
- Certification as a Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) by the Society of Maintenance & Reliability Professionals Certifying Organization preferred.
- Self-confident character to enforce required actions.
- Leadership, team building and negotiating skills.
- Good understanding mechanical and instrument process equipment.
- Planning and coordinating ability.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of precision maintenance practices.
- Experience performing craft work in a plant.
