Faculty Director for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program
Iowa Western Community College is hiring a Faculty Director for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program
The Faculty Director/Physical Therapist Assistant Program position requires a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who has demonstrated an understanding of education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in physical therapist assistant education. The Program Director is responsible for maintaining program accreditation and submitting appropriate reports to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The Program Director will be responsible for delivering all levels of PTA program classes.
Duties also include, but are not limited to: Training and leading faculty, teaching classroom and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, committee assignments, student academic advising, student recruitment, assessment of student learning, responsibility for materials and supplies, and budget management. All candidates interviewed will be required to provide a teaching demonstration.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently licensed Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant
- Master's Degree required
- A minimum of five years (or equivalent), full-time, post licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience
- Experience in theory and clinical teaching
- Experience in administration/management
- Experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education teaching
- Management of accreditation criteria and compliance
- APTA Advanced and/or Credentialed Clinical Instructor or a willingness to be trained
Additional Qualifications: Include occasional lifting of 10 pounds, the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, ability to work with diverse populations, and work is performed in a classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and use a phone, and some travel by vehicle may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, and working with minimal supervision, a high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills, and high degree of inter-personal skills preferred. Hiring process includes ability to pass a background check, a valid driver's license, and a good driving record.
Salary: $70,000-$80,000
