Dental Hygienist
LSUHSC is in search of an experienced Dental Hygienist to teach at the LSUHSC dental hygiene program in Alexandria, Louisiana. This program will consist of 6 students in each of the two clinical dental hygiene years. (total of 12). This faculty member would be responsible for all academic aspects of the program management at that location. They will be calibrated with faculty at the main campus in New Orleans and run the clinical teaching in the 5-unit clinic. Other duties will include ensuring maintenance of all CODA standards and the delivery and/or coordination of didactic, pre-clinical, lab and clinical aspects of the program with the New Orleans site. The hygienist will work with the site supervisor to schedule and organize part-time faculty, supervising dentists, student patient care schedules and enrichment sites. They will stay in communication with the main campus faculty to oversee student outcomes and exams, as well as oversee and report on all local dental hygiene faculty and staff. They will coordinate all dental equipment maintenance and repairs. Pre-clinical, clinical, radiology lab, dental materials labs courses and local anesthesia lab must all be taught at the Alexandria location. The faculty member will be part of the teaching team in place to provide these courses/labs and chairside teaching. Some travel is involved both locally to dental offices and clinics to establish sites for enrichment and to New Orleans for graduation and other similar events. Must have a Bachelor’s degree and be a Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing. Experience must include at least 28 hours a week for 5 years in clinical practice or in weekly combination with dental hygiene education. Must have possession of or eligibility for a dental hygiene license in Louisiana and possession of or eligibility for local anesthesia and nitrous oxide permit in Louisiana; Must have possession of a valid driver’s license. Must be CPR Certified.
