Job Description Summary
The Broadcast Engineering Technician is responsible for the health and maintenance of all video editing systems, the Facilis Media Asset Server, the Tightrope Cablecast On Air Server System, NewTek Tricaster systems, and the Teradek streaming network system. The Broadcast Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining IT systems, video server systems, digital video systems (4K HD SDI) including cameras, switchers, routers and studio lighting controls. The Broadcast Engineering Technician provides troubleshooting on both PC and MAC production platforms from a working knowledge of production and post production workflows with Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve and Apple Final Cut Pro. The Broacast Engineering Techician is responsible for the PGCC TV Studio and the Center for Performing Arts TV Studio as well as support during recordings from the Control Center at the Center for Performing Arts.

Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree in related field or equivalent formal training in related field.
- Three years of experience in technical experience in television field.
- Certification in broadcasting electronic technology and/or electrical engineering.
- Supervisor experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Electrical and mechanical skills necessary to troubleshoot complex electronic problems.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex digital and analog electronic problems.
- Experience monitoring and solving technical problems related to digital broadcast systems.
- Working knowledge of electronic test equipment.
- A strong IT and/or broadcast television/video production background.
- Extent of experience supporting production personnel with technical issues.
- Ability to read and comprehend operations manuals and electronics schematics and drawings.
- Knowledge and experience with HDTV, MPEG2, automation, and broadcast production workflows.
- Knowledge of and experience with media servers, MAC and Windows operating systems, databases and audio and livestream broadcast equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge in operating a television scheduling system, CG system, and encoding systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or other video editing tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge with computer-based software and systems.
- Ablity to fix audio and video cables and electrical lighting fixtures.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with non-linear editing systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge with networked delivery of analog and digital media.
- Demonstrated knowledge in master control, video over IP, streaming video, VOD, digital signage, and wireless delivery.
- Demonstrated team-oriented attitude and a dedication to quality.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (e.g. written, verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals within diverse groups (e.g., faculty, staff, and students.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develops and maintains a regular preventive maintenance program for all studio, control room electronics and post production systems.
- Initiates corrective procedures to solve problems.
- Collaborates with vendors and equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues with all studio, control room electronics and post production systems.
- Maintains a recurring schedule for system maintenance and upgrades with vendors.
- Reports system usage, down time, repairs and other information to the PGCC TV manager on a regular basis.
- Communicates any actions taken to the PGCC TV Manager.
- Advises on video and audio technical requirements.
- Oversees technical support to all studio productions and production personnel internal and external.
- Provides technical support to the college's television classes in the Center for Performing Arts TV Studio on an as needed basis.
- Investigates and advises on technology to improve and expand video capabilities.
- Researches and recommends the purchase of additional and replacement equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Inspects and maintains the studio lighting systems.
- Maintains and monitors operation of Tightrope Cablecast server, program encoding, and program emergency broadcast messages as needed.
- Reviews and submits studio systems maintenance reports to the PGCC TV manager.
- Maintains and tracks inventory of television studio production equipment.
- Maintains television production supplies and inventory of spare lamps for studio lighting.
- Maintains Control Center control room in the Center for Performing Arts to ensure audio and video signal for live streaming and recording of programs in various theatres.
- Participates in staff development programs as required.
- Contributes effectively to a positive work environment that demonstrates and supports a learning centered environment.
- Recommends changes in work processes to improve the quality and effectiveness of service.
- Reinforces and maintains high ethical standards of conduct and procedures to assist in ensuring the security of the college's technology assets and data.
- Collaborates with other staff to provide and promote effective video technology services in a team environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
