Job Description:


Empire State University's School for Graduate Studies is currently seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Applied Behavior Analysis. The successful candidate will work with students in the M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis program whose research intersects behavior.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching and advising in the Division of Education, working with the academic coordinator to develop online courses, an active research agenda, supervising capstone projects, and engaging in service. The successful candidate may also teach and engage in course development in other graduate programs as determined by need and availability. Additionally, the candidate may support the work of and engage in research with the Center for Autism Advocacy: Research, Education, and Supports (CAARES) as appropriate.

The School for Graduate Studies serves over 1,000 students per year in several degree and certificate programs offered in online and blended formats. The M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program's fully online curriculum is paired with required clinical experiences to provide a rigorous, yet flexible program that prepares students to become Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and New York State Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBA). Our faculty are committed to meeting the needs of adult learners and are dedicated to mentoring, motivating, and supporting our graduate students through consistent advisement, engaging instruction, and continuous program improvement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the faculty role. Critically, successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for teaching and training graduate students in applied behavior analysis to prioritize client quality of life, affirm disability, and engage in ethical and culturally responsive behavior analysis.


Requirements:


Required Qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis or a related field (e.g., Special Education or Psychology) from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or comparable non-U.S. college or university.
  • BCBA-D certification (BCBA certification with eligibility for BCBA-D certification will be considered).
  • Licensed behavior analyst (LBA) status in New York State or eligibility for LBA.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience engaging in behavior analytic professional practice (this may have occurred during masters and/or doctoral work).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience providing supervision for individuals completing supervised fieldwork for the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst certification and/or to those candidates completing supervision experiences aligned to state licensure in behavior analysis.
  • An active commitment to scholarly work, or has the potential for, coherent and robust research related in ABA.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The desire and skills to engage with a diverse student body.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in online and blended teaching formats.
  • Potential for and/or record of an extramurally funded program of research.
  • Experience in graduate-level teaching in applied behavior analysis.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
Special Information:
  • Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university commitments.
  • Office hours (primarily online) will vary to accommodate students' needs.
  • Teaching in evening and weekend residencies and retreats per program needs will be required.

Additional Information:


Rank/Salary: Tenure-track, Assistant Professor, 12-month appointment, $80,000.
