Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor

The state-of-the-art research and instructional building on the Hospital Hill campus at UMKC, places the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the center of Life and Health Sciences education and research, along with the Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry and Medicine. Three teaching hospitals, the Health Department and several clinics are adjacent to the campus. Research expertise at the School of Nursing and Health Studies spans the translational continuum from basic science to direct patient care, along with community action research which addresses urban health issues, cardiovascular health as well as women's health.

Accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education, the School values excellence in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice and service.UMKC's undergraduate nursing program has been rated No. 86 of 650 nursing programs by U.S. News and World Report in 2023. The School, with over 1,400 students, offers a pre-licensure BSN, RN to BSN, MSN, DNP and PhD programs.The Schoolof Nursing and Health Studiesseeks faculty of regional or national prominence to teach in our innovative programs.

Job Description

The School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Missouri – Kansas City seeks applications for a 9-month ranked, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor faculty member to take BSN student groups into the clinical setting.

The faculty selected for this ranked, non-tenure track position will be expected to:

· Provide leadership in the development and instruction of lab and/or clinical course experiences in the undergraduate programs;

· Lead groups of students into the clinical setting as assigned;

· Instruct groups of students in the lab settings as assigned;

· Integrate research findings into teaching and practice, using nursing technology to advance the clinical setting;

· Demonstrate expertise in teaching, practice, and evaluation;

· Provide academic advice and assistance on students' plans of studies and uncomplicated progression;

· Provideservice to the School of Nursing and Health Studies and/or the university appropriate to the position;

· Advance the goals of the School of Nursing and the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Strategic Plan;

· Meet all clinical requirements for UMKC and clinical partners; andparticipate in the clinical evaluation process.

Qualifications

· A Master's Degree in nursing or a related field;

· Hold an unencumbered RN license in Missouri or another compact state;

· Minimum of five years of clinical or hospital experience as a registered nurse;

· Experience or demonstrated potential to teach nursing students; and

· Clinical expertise in adult medical surgical nursing

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with rank, qualifications and experience.
