Job Summary
Provides and supervises custodial services or processes by coordinating and overseeing work assignments in custodial functions within a department. Time will be spent split between hands-on cleaning, training/mentoring, and administrative-related duties. Ensures relevant policies and procedures are implemented. Participates in the interview process as well as assesses, develops, and provides training for new and existing employees. Ensures cleaning and maintenance of buildings/facilities. Meets with customers on a regular basis to ensure open and transparent communication between the occupants and the Facilities Management team.

Job Responsibilities
Five years of experience in a related field, with two of those years working as a supervisor, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); knowledge of related trade or department specific equipment, systems and procedures. Demonstrated organizational, human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Some areas of assignment may require additional experience, specific licensures or registrations.

Job Responsibilities
- Be comfortable and familiar with working in a wide range of spaces including, research labs, fitness areas, classrooms, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, and others.
- Oversees and assists in the work performance of assigned custodians to ensure cleaning services are completed to department-defined standards.
- Supervise the daily work of crew leads and custodians; inspect all assigned areas daily to ensure work is being carried out properly and orderly.
- Provides human resources activities by assisting in the selection of employees, overseeing training functions, evaluating performance, and initiating disciplinary action.
- Holds staff meetings to cover key topics for the month as required and ensures staff has clear understanding of responsibilities and has tools and equipment needed for their job.
- Evaluate, order inventory and maintain stock of custodial supplies; recommend the need for equipment and other purchases.
- Responds to customer requests promptly, resolves customer complaints, builds strong relationships, stays up to date on current issues, and looks for opportunities for growth.
- Looks for ways to innovate and improve efficiency.
- Communicates and collaborate with the building occupants to ensure great customer service.
- Trains and enforces safety, hazardous materials guidelines, policies, and procedures; investigates accidents and fill out accident reports.
- Must be able to effectively read and communicate both written and verbally with all levels of the organization.
